My Armchair Thoughts About Ticketstock 2011

I thought this was a top three Ticketstock. Definitely in the top seventeen. Thanks to all the Good Strong P1′s for coming out to see the Little Ticket waste a weekend in spectacular fashion. I even met a guy from Boise, Idaho who’s never lived in Dallas and who found the Ticket online years ago and has been a P1 ever since. He flew down to Dallas just for Ticketstock.

We had close to 4000 souls packed in the Plano Center for the Timewasters on Friday night. I’m still looking for Youtube footage. So far I’ve only found a partial Teenage Dream with Fake Jerry and Wade. And some up close and personal Sweet Hardline action. If you find anymore, let me know and I’ll post ‘em.

UPDATE: A P1 just sent me some more footage, this time of my singing of Centerfold. Embarrassingly, you can witness how much I rely on music stand to remember the lyrics to a song I’ve heard a million times.

Mike showing his skillz

Several funny pics online. Enjoy Mike’s pelvic thrusting on the Dallas Observer’s Slide Show.

Local photographer Mike Brooks also took some beautiful photos of Norm and his great-grandson.

Favorite moment? Maybe Tim Brown telling behind-the-scenes stories that made us wonder if he knew he was on the air. Maybe the Playboy Playmate who thought Hitler defeated the Nazi’s in the 1920′s while America was busy fighting the British and the “J People.” What did you like?

Dan’s voice is the fingers on the chalkboard to my Ticket pants. But… he is very funny and does do great TicketStock songs.

I used to think it was his voice, but in reality, it’s his pronunciation, which is a different thing. He puts short “a” where an “o” should be. So “dollars” becomes “dallars”.
Also, he puts a long “a” where an “i” should be, so “exciting” becomes “excating”.

I can’t stand Bob and Dan just because they both do that.

For a long time I thought Dan’s pronunciation was weird also, but for me it was the way he say’s the letter o like a double o , or oooo sound. I swore he was saying Toony Roomoo all the time, drove me nuts during the fall. And Bob just has the occasional Wisconsin fall back where he sounds like that clip of him with Sparky Anderson. Green Bay Piaaackers, Brit Ferrrrrrrv and the like. I’m a BAD Radio fan though, weird accents and all. My question is, who has the whiniest voice on the ticket? A.Corby B.Dan or C.Fernando I gotta go C.

      Ditto, but ahhh… ahhhhh…

  2. middletree says:

I thought I heard some years back that Norm had no living relatives. Glad to hear that was incorrect.

  3. Human, Internets says:

sweet jebus. I should’ve set the DVR to record Fringe for me, and fought through the traffic to get out there on Friday. And I should’ve put off the yard work and general laziness (although that came out of the yardwork I did) to come out there on Saturday too. How can a dirty-dead 3R of my caliber ever hope to live this down?

  4. Dirtiest of All Dirty P1s says:

Perhaps this was explained on the air and I missed it, but why is uber Ranger fan Rhynes wearing a Giants T-shirt?

  5. Aqua Lamb says:

I wish I could have gone, I wanted to do the ticker thing SO BAD.

After years of listening while being out in san diego I’m glad to say I made it to my first ticket stock this year. One hell of a time. Getting to meet all my leaders was really cool. Got Full Disclosure signed by all the ticket hosts and did a ticket ticker. That almost turned my ticket pants in to panties. Cant wait for Summer Bash!

  6. Chip says:

I love Ticket Stock. I am able to pretend I have game and talk to all the Ticket Chicks and Stars Ice Girls ans they have to stand there and talk back to me. I am a old loser who goes to Hooters and Twin Peaks to talk to pretty girls to help my ego. Too bad in real life I onlt talk to loser autograph hounds.

  7. Geo says:

Chew-Chee-Boppo is Norm’s son from a gay marriage. He BM’d Norm’s grandson out, years ago, who, in turn, diarrhea’d out, Norm’s great grandson.

  8. muddy says:

Wow that’s fantastic or as the kids say, WTF. Who looks closer to death’s door, mole on face or Norm? G.D., seek help now cause you look scary dude.

  9. Mattzor says:

re: music stand, don’t feel too bad about it. I recall seeing a video screen with lyrics down by Axl’s monitors in some GNR documentary, and he wrote those effing songs.

  10. adam says:

hey gordo, just a note of thanks for all the humor and comedy. I started listening to the ticket in 1994 and was only able to keep up with the bits over the years via the internet(though, your internet player is teh suck) so, then, when I got busy, I had to get podcasts from the unticket. which, as you know, only posts the funniest of the funnies.

I do recall Craig and George broadcasting from some bike place on Coit road back in the day. Craig, always funny, remarked that it was “weird” that people would stand around and watch people broadcast.

right, so ticketstock was the highlight of my brief return to dallas. I took the bus there from addison – which was awesome, I had no idea that DART was as good as it is. then, luckily, I had a beer or two but then my friend showed up and gave me a ride home. at any rate, you are funny and that is the main point of this rambling comment. your thoughts?

  11. El Escogido says:

For the record, that wasnt norm’s grandson. Im a p1 and he was holding my DAUGHTER.
