I LOVE this clip of Jerry Reed and Glen Campbell burning it up on Guitar Man. Listen to the rhythm that Glen is playing in the background. These guys are just badass.
These guys don’t suck either: Great clip of Roy Clark and Marty Stewart
And I haven’t even gotten to Chet Atkins…

These clips sure are a step up from the Hemingways, aren’t they?
In keeping with Chet Atkins, here’s one of my faves:
Gordo…….
Great post!
Love the trips back especially back in time to Hee Haw.
The only observations I’ll make are……
a) Is Marty Stuart your “Mini-Me”
b) I think Marty stole your beard
Keep the classic country posts coming…..but where’s the Dwight clips????
BRILLIANT!
I was at a Guitar Show at the DCC back in the 80′s and the guy from Cinderella was onstage so all the focus was on him. I wandered by a Gibson booth at the back of the room and there was an old guy playing one of those Chet Atkins SSTs sitting there chickin-pickin and I must have done a double-take when I realized it was CHET AKTINS playing the guitar. Very nice unassuming guy who smiled at me when I fumbled out “You’re Chet Aktins aren’t you?”. His playing was so effortless and beautiful. The real talents endure.
I see your country pickin badass and raise you a couple of Junior “Badass” Brown videos
#1 – Somebody took country pickin lessons
#2 the mother of all cover songs
#3 – JB is to Badassness what GK is to Morning Drive
Gordo, I appreciate the fact that you appreciate things that ought to be appreciated.
It’s amazing the different sounds one can create with the guitar; from Chet Atkins, to Jimmy Hendrix to SRV to Eddie Van Halen and yes even the Smiths guitar player. In my opinion, the best instrument or even invention for that matter ever created. All you really need is your guitar, your dog, and a nice piece.
check out old dwight yoakam with pete anderson..pow.!
Here is one that might surprise folks.. Claw picking like amos moses. I prefer texas music over nashville, but brad has a lot of talent.
Love me some Chet Atkins, especially a Xmas album from my youth, pure genius.
