In case you wanted to know the definition of badass

I LOVE this clip of Jerry Reed and Glen Campbell burning it up on Guitar Man. Listen to the rhythm that Glen is playing in the background. These guys are just badass.

These guys don’t suck either: Great clip of Roy Clark and Marty Stewart

And I haven’t even gotten to Chet Atkins

We had guitarist Rhett Butler on Gordon’s Corner today. Beautiful, amazing stuff. So many P1′s are asking how they can get a hold of Rhett’s music and help in his brother’s fight against cancer. Please Click here.

Ticket 16th anniversary

I posed for this

The Ticket celebrates its 16th anniversary this week, and we are ready for our first serious girlfriend. This station has been a wonderful place to work over the years and we thank you guys for listening and wasting time with us.

Someone asked me on the Twitter who is still there from day one. If I remember correctly, the people who were working on that first day that are still at the Ticket are George Dunham, Craig Miller, me, Mark Elfenbein, Steve “Cactus” Pryor, Mike Rhyner, and Mike “Fernando” Fernandez, but there are several others who have been here since the first few months who helped build the station. Jon “Mr. Do” Michaels and Jeff “Cat” Catlin come to mind. Corby started in the first year too, I believe.

I should note that I was merely a lowly intern on that first day. I was not on payroll until a couple months later. Wanna know how much I made? $150 a week. Totally overpaid, I know. But on day one I was doing what I am doing now, suffering under the brutal personality of Mike Fernandez and doing fake voices in the mornings.

Happy Birthday to all the Ticket employees. Past and present.

You need to buy this

My good friend, George Dunham, has recorded a fantastic country EP that you need to buy. His song “Thought It Was You” is an incredible heartfelt story about his deceased father that has really resonated with the P1′s.

I’ve always said that George is the most talented musician up here at the little Ticket and now I’m glad others can sample the evidence.

I liked this from Brian Williams

Excerpt from HOME AGAIN, A LONG WAY FROM HAITI by Brian Williams, NBC anchor

We see some awful things in our line of work. And then we come home to our comfortable lives in America. As long as I live, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to square the two lives we lead. After all the suffering we witnessed, I arrived home with no way to explain it, no desire to go into detail, and no explanation for why some children are born into poverty and struggle only to die young and in great pain—while my children lead such fortunate lives. I’ve come home from multiple trips to Iraq, Afghanistan, Indonesia, New Orleans and now Haiti asking the same thing. I stood in line this afternoon at the supermarket and listened to two insanely entitled teenagers—wearing the logo clothing of a prominent New England prep school—complaining about obscene topics like how “tight” their mother was with her credit card, and how taxing the task of shopping had been for them. It took everything I had to remain silent and not remind them that people are suffering. I am hoping they have parents for that—maybe they are the ones who should be reminded. Continue reading

Pick me up, Monday

Jerry looking at the bright side

How about focusing on Cowgirls instead?

I know you are sad about the Cowboy loss, like Jerry, but you should keep things in perspective, unlike these people.

This is certain to cheer up any despondent human- a tremendous bit of NSFW confusion. Don’t click here

Not cheered up yet? Well, how about watching the the greatest KISS song of all time!

Tony Romo mocks ref

He has a history.

Steve Perry is rolling over in his still living grave

I don’t know how to describe this. The way it all falls apart, the singer dancing like she is trying to regain control of her muscles after a car crash, the odd Nazi salute on the high notes, Napoleon Dynamite on guitar, Geraldine Ferraro sitting behind the drums. It is just.. so bad.
