Separated at Birth

Like you, I am a bit worn out on the Ryan Moats controversy, but I would not be doing my journalistic duty if I did not share with you the findings of my investigation.

Wow, if only he had yellow teeth as well. I too have had officer Powell overload….

  2. Rolan Nyan says:

I love Scut Farkus. Who is this Ofc. Powell…Oh yeah Ofc. Powell the white cop that beat up Rodney King, right? Oh wait no he was the one that pulled out his 9 on the chimpanzee on a segway, right?? I love to view a freshly cleansed dromedary foot finger, what about you all??

  3. Jonathan says:

so help me god he had green teeth!

  4. Ted Downing says:

Reminds me more of Timothy McVeigh

  5. Boo Boo Riviera says:

Star Trek’s “Kirk” is now a bi-sexual character!

    http://www.afterelton.com/movies/2009/4/startrekgoesgay

I’m a little suprised that they didn’t make Spock the bi-sexual.

  6. P19 Bob says:

My only question I haven’t heard is what would have happened if the NFL player DIDN’T RUN THE RED LIGHT? Seriously, he broke the law…if he would have waited the extra 30 seconds for the light he would have been with his mother-in-law.

the media failed on this one.

  7. john says:

He looks like the kid that played the banjo in Deliverence, except now he’s grown up and working in the big city.

  8. middletree says:

Boo Boo, look at the date on that news story.

  9. middletree says:

Even if you don’t get excited about new computer applications, you should at least read about this one

    http://mail.google.com/mail/help/autopilot/index.html

  10. nguyen says:

    HE ACTUALLY HAS YELLOW EYES!

  11. eRacer X says:

I might be in the minority on this one, but I’d much rather enjoy looking at the beauty of the feminine accessory instead of reading or even looking at officer douchy douche.

  12. wow, john….he looks just like that kid! That’s from Deliverance, right? “He’s got a real pretty mouth on him, don’t he? “

  13. Thumb Harmonica says:

P19 Bob: Why don’t you get your facts straight…he ROLLED through the red light with his hazards on. He made sure and got eye contact with the few other motorists at the intersection and got a hand gesture saying it was ok for him to go. Still tired of this story.

  14. Electro-acolyte says:

    Do you like this gig?

  15. old&tired says:

    Thumb,

are you that dense? There is no difference between ROLLED or RAN when it comes to red lights, both are illegal.

Other motorists don’t have authority to give a hand gesture and that removes all laws.

  16. Fake Skip says:

    Geezus People…Give it a rest…

I can only imagine if they had message boards and blog sites when Jesus was crucified.

  17. P51mike says:

Another, but I can’t find a photo, for separated at birth with Officer Powell is Kendra Wilkinson of “Girls Next Door” fame. Without make up she’s a dead ringer for this guys sister. I dare you to check it out.

  18. Boo Boo Riviera says:

Middletree, are you saying that the column is an April Fool’s joke? :*(

  19. oldsaintd says:

I agree w/ old&tired, he still broke the law and though officer Powell is an a-hole and used poor judgement, I don’t think he broke any police regulations. Either way I’m also bored w/ the whole story.

  20. JT says:

    Old & Tired,
The officer was right for pulling him over, and was right for giving him a ticket. If he hadn’t held everybody there for 15 minutes while he “asserted his authority” this would not be a news story. Instead, he wanted to be an enourmous a-hole, and in the process, made himself to look like Eric Cartman with a nightstick and mirrored glasses.

BTW, was he SERVING or PROTECTING when he was doing all of this? I can’t figure it out.

  21. eRacer X says:

P19, I could have easily waited another 30 seconds if my maw-in-law were dying…

Nevertheless, I agree with both Thumb and old&tired.
There is a difference between the two, AND they are both illegal.
If I had the morbid choice, though, of either getting hit by an idiot who RAN a red light versus an idiot who ROLLED THROUGH a red light…I think I’d choose the roller and not the runner.

    J. Jackson and John…another likeness might be Malachi from the Corn Kids…or somesuch…

    http://www.flixster.com/movie/children-of-the-corn-photos/-11140230

Boo Boo…I just knew Star Trek was gay!

  22. Thumb Harmonica says:

What a dumb comeback. So if you are trying to rush your dying child to the hospital you are going to make sure and stop at all lights and obey all speed limits??? (Yeah, I know it wasn’t his child so don’t start.) I’m not saying it wasn’t illegal, but at some point when an emergency persists you should use common sense and some good judgement. This is a no-win situation. Obviously you have no sympathy for the family. Maybe someone dying close to you would open your eyes.

  23. YAM says:

Well apparently this story is over for now – officer resigns this morning.

    http://cbs11tv.com/local/powell.resigns.dallas.2.973181.html

  24. middletree says:

    Powell has announced his resignation.

  25. Maximum John says:

Oh yeah, he had no proof-of-insurance either. But what the heck. He’s a famous victim.

  26. Uh Paul in uh whoops says:

I knew he looked familiar. That’s classic. Pure Gold

  27. middletree says:

Boo Boo, you didn’t really think that story about Star Trek was real, did you?

  28. Uh Paul in uh whoops says:

The cop was was right and following procedure up to the point the nurses and other officers confirmed Moats’ story.
You have to think everyone he pulls over can just say someone’s dying. How many times do people cry wolf?
Just because Moats said that doesn’t mean the officer is gonna say “oh ok c ya later” You go inside while I find your insurance and I’ll just wait outside for ya.
Regardless if it’s a hospital. And 9 times out of 10 people over state “they are dying”
He had a fleeing vehicle that ran a red light with subjects leaving the vehicle. He did everything textbook.
What he could of done better is shut his mouth about all the things he could have done and just wrote the ticket. Or once confirmed by the nurse that this was life and death, then release him instead of going on a power trip.
As far as Zach Thomas’ wife, she had no insurance, no registration, illegal u-turn, and a couple other class c citations. Isn’t that his job? It doesn’t matter if you are out of state, if you can read the sign then you can follow the law.

  29. Brian says:

Also, I think he and the older brother Chet from Weird Science might have been separated at birth.

“Look at that haircut, anybody with a haircut like that; you know he’s and [a-hole].”

  30. P19 Bob says:

Thumb Harmonica You are an idiot.

The lawbreaker flashing his lights and waving at people…I’m sure he was being very respectful breaking the law…like if I was riding my motorcycle there and didn’t ‘wave at him’ and nailed his car and died he’d be facing manslaughter charges for BREAKING THE LAW! Another DUMB ASS JOCK getting away with a good hard working citizen being forced to lose his job.

If it would have been anyone other than a NFL player this wouldn’t be a story, I guess Thumb Harmonica thinks athletes are gods…again, your an idiot, at least Gordon loves you when you log on to his site…moron.

    You are loved.

  31. P19 Bob says:

Oh, and Thumb Harmonica using a ‘dieing child’ as an excuse, really…you are f-ing stupid.

  32. ronda says:

The question really is what you believe is the purpose of the law. Is the law there as a guide or is it a strict boundary not to be crossed? I tend toward the former and don’t really think there would be a need for courts or juries if the latter was true.

  33. me says:

What if it was a family of suicide bombers with c4 under their clothes and he let them go only to later find out they bombed the hospital and hes now the scapegoat for not stopping them. we’d all wish he’d been more of a dick and hauled em in then.

  34. Tee Jay says:

This guy is obviously Separated At Birth from ex-Cowboy kicker Mike Vanderjagt…simply continuing his record of “mind-blowing” statistics. Powell knew if he got fired he could always join the RCMP and become the highest paid Mountie of all time.

  35. Boo Boo Riviera says:

    Uh, P19 Bob?

It’s “you’re stupid” not “your stupid” Stupid.

  36. Boo Boo Riviera says:

Middletree, I did. LOL I didn’t really read the article.

    Ronda, good point.

  37. middletree says:

    Boo Boo:
Your naive-ness (made-up word) is endearing.
If the date of the Star Trek story wasn’t a giveaway, the part at the end about the inclusion of an annoying Star Wars character threw the whole thing over the top.

  38. P1 Brandon says:

I have started this post two or three times but got tiredhead from reading the “law & order” attitudes on here and given up.

I agree with ronda’s posting whole-heartedly…the fact that a cop has the option to give a warning to a speeder underscores her point. The law is a guideline meant to be enforced with human judgement.

The folks on here insisting upon a strict adherence to the letter of the law need to consider some hypothetical situations and really take a gut check.

If your fifteen year old kid pisses in a public park, he can be forced to register as a sex offender under certain circumstances. That would RUIN his ENTIRE life. Does that seem right? No.

I am glad this happened to a celebrity so that bad behavior of those charged with a higher degree of responsibility had to actually be held accountable.

And Ryan Moats didn’t get away with anything…he missed a fleeting last moment with a relative that was dying at 45 years old from cancer. He and his wife have to live with that forever.

I am not thrashing the cop either…he did what he thought was right and was trying to enforce the law, but hindsight being 20/20, the dashcam, and the other officers’ repeated requests to let it go proved he made the wrong call and now he has to take responsibilty for it.

I hope that this sets a precedent for more public commentary on the “public service” police provide for the citizens and serves as a reminder to police that they have every right to enforce the law and exercise their judgement, but it better be the very best possible reasoning and logic underscoring the process, and if it is not he/she could be held accountable.

  39. Lakewoody says:

That guy is an ass. Glad he is off the streets.

  40. Boo Boo Riviera says:

    Middletree, thank you? ;)

P1 Brandon, I have to disagree a bit on one thing. It was more than just a wrong call. It’s like what’s-his-name’s point on the other thread. Some people’s sole purpose in life is just to be an a**hole, to fill some childhood void by asserting dominance. I knew a girl that wanted to be a cop because she said she wanted respect. Pathetic. The people who enter this type of job for those reasons are not the people who make this world a better place.

  41. P1 Brandon says:

Boo Boo – I believe you are correct, but for the devil’s advocate sake of the argument I was giving him the benefit of the doubt to just *maybe* get a strict “law & order” guy to see it through a different set of eyes.

My personal opinion is this guy is a power-tripping a-hole who might even have a few racial issues.

Why do you think you have so many kids go into the military at 18 and then become police officers at 22? A lot of them have no other options, have a warped personal/world view, and get to go off like a badass with a gun all the time.

  42. Boo Boo Riviera says:

I agree, P1 Brandon. Perception is everything. I feel sad for those that need to show how they have the power to ruin someone’s life because that means they were mistreated in life. I wish those people could learn to see that each experience in life is unique; that it has not happen to them before. I wish that they had the mental capacity to enter each experience being conscious that their interpretation of a situation is clouded by their unique veil of perception. I’m lucky in that I get to see the world through rose colored glasses, but it really blind sides me when I see people misplacing their revenge.
