This is one evangelical Christian conservative who agrees with your post, word for word. All thru the 90’s, I pleaded with my fellow Righties to stop acting as if Bill & Hillary were our enemy, but it never stopped, and now we all are reaping the rewards of the divisiveness.

The thing is, I’ve heard the same hateful things from the Right for 15 years – back when the culture wars got started, it was the liberals who were tantamount to traitors – they were going to let the UN troops occupy the country in the middle of the night – now, they are going to let the terrorists in in the middle of the day to bomb all our cities – it was the liberals that were going to tear down our Judeo-Christian heritage and replace it with secular humanism – now, they are going to replace it with Islam –

I guess it’s just a case of what goes around comes around – and the more we hear the other side call us names, whatever side you are on, the less patience we have to try and dig thru the crap to actually get to whatever point the other side may actually have –

What keeps it going is that you can always find the nuts and kooks on the fringes of the right and left – yes, there are fascists, nazis and white supremacists on the far right – and there are communists, anarchists and enviro-terrorists on the far left – if you look hard enough, you can always find someone with an idiot opinion – and nowadays, you really don’t have to look very hard at all -

Thanks for reminding me of my first bike… I had a green Schwinn Stingray Deluxe, what an awesome bike. Sparkle banana seat, chrome fenders, fat slick tire in the back. Almost everyone I knew had some form of the Stingray (crates, fastbacks, super deluxes) and we LIVED on those things.

By the time I finally outgrew it, I had stripped all the fenders off, replaced the seat, handlebars and grips with BMX stuff because we all wanted to be Evil Knievel. Good times.
